CIC’s International Advisory Council Meeting 2023 was held on September 19 in Hong Kong.

This meeting was themed Reunite in Hong Kong and Chart the Way Forward. In his opening remarks, Chairman Peng gave an update on CIC’s development in the past year, not least the full-on endeavors to build in-house investment capabilities and responsible investing practices. He also shared his views on how to invest against the backdrop of economic and political complexities around the globe, and outlined CIC’s priorities going forward under new circumstances.

IAC members shared their observations on three topics, “Seeking Stability and Certainty amid Divergence and Turbulence”, “Global Transition and the Way Forward for Investment and Green Development”, and “Capture New Drivers for Growth and Opportunities Arising from Economic Recovery through Cross-Border Investment”. In their discussions, IAC members looked into the macro-economic landscapes and policy environment, shed light on the opportunities and challenges for institutional investors, and offered valuable advice to CIC on investment trends, asset allocation, and high-quality sustainable investments. CIC’s senior executives and heads of departments attend the meeting by person.

The International Advisory Council (IAC), which convenes annually and is composed of distinguished international experts from diverse backgrounds in government, business, and academia, was established in 2009 with a mandate to advise CIC on its development strategy and investment business, and furnish CIC’s executives and staff with insights on geopolitical and macro-economic developments, international financial market conditions, and global investment trends.
